This Is Bennet Pomerantz.Tonight Guest is Michelle Bain Michelle created her character, Thumbs Up Johnnie quite by accident in the Spring of 2002. While sending a birthday card to a friend, she inked her thumb and left an imprint on the envelope. Instead of replacing the envelope, Michelle “doodled” stick arms and legs, to create a cowboy with hat and boots. The character made a bigger impression than the card! Michelle created additional characters and The Adventures of Thumbs Up JohnnieTM was born. As a child, reading fueled Michelle's imagination and gave her an appetite for the artistry of writing. The Adventures of Thumbs Up JohnnieTM book and episodic television series is designed to illustrate the joys and benefits that come from engaging in socially conscious, positive behavior such as being a good friend, kindness, cooperation, and teamwork. Through his adventures, Johnnie and his friends demonstrate the advantages of doing what is right, and set a positive example that encourages young readers ages 4-8 to embrace such behavior as part of their daily lives. Thumbs Up Johnnie is everyone's thumbprint; after all, everyone has one and yet everyone's is unique.
