July 4, 1963 and was raised in Southern California, 3 hours south of Bakersfield. Ray began his music career at age 5, singing in school plays and later learned to play guitar and learnied other instruments. Having a father from Texas who was a lover of country music and bluegrass and being raised in what was back in the 60s, a hot bed for country music, Ray was in a good position to be influenced by artists like Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Roy Acuff, Buck Owens, Lester flat and Earl Scruggs, The Dillards, AKA The Darlings when they were on The Andy Griffith Show, Hee Haw, The Beverley Hillbillies, The Johnny Cash Show and The Glen Campbell show.
