Separate People; Separate Nation Part 2 | show ID# shabb-042613-separate-people-nation-2 The provision after judgment, after destruction of Jerusalem, the temple, the Priesthood, and Judah into bondage was the promise of “Raising up the Tabernacle of David.” There lay a deeper meaning than mere rebuilding of a city and a temple again. It is a hope of permanent redemption and restoration for those who would receive the Lord's mercy. The Lord God had brought Israel into the land and commanded them to be sanctified before him, keep his commandments, and to walk in his ways. However they did not and fell into sin. Judgment came and in Amos we find the promise of the "tabernacle of David". In judgment the temple, priesthood, and Jerusalem was destroyed. But this promise goes further than mere building of Jerusalem, the Temple, and Priesthood again. It goes to the heart of the Lord and the mercy given from the foundation of the world. The Tabernacle of David rebuilt salvation through the Messiach, the greater son of David, and the hope for all who believe upon this Messiach. Amo 9:11 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old: Act 2:34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, Act 2:35 Until I make thy foes thy footstool.
