#1 The Miracle of Forgiveness

I am delighted to begin the reading of this book by Spencer W Kimball, published in 1969. I have read it over 7 times and find it is something I feel inspired to read right along with my scriptures, mainly because it does not allow me to justify inappropriate behavior. That is just the way this book affects me and I need that because, along with my weakness for excusing others, I do tend to justify my shortcomings. Christ counseled us to love our neighbor as ourselves and that means to hold our behavior up to a standard that honors God and our parents as well in my opinion. My justifying behavior was at least enhanced by my needed to make excuses for parental misbehavior but that also does not justify me doing so for myself or others. This is not being harsh or judgmental because it deals with behavior and not the intrinsic person. We are all children. Not only that we are all wounded children and we need to extend love, courtesy, respect, and dignity to all. I hope you will give this discussion a chance, a chance to be planted as a seed of understanding, and truly of freedom. As long as we justify our sins or others we keep ourselves in a form of bondage and do not allow Gods love to fully help us to be all that we can be. May God bless us on this journey!
